If you have a website, it’s truly important that you need to build your own opt-in newsletter for your business (fully online business or hybrid) because it’s part of your successful online marketing.
You may ask why I wrote “hybrid”, some online businesses are not fully selling online stuff, they are just purely offline businesses that make use of online medium for promoting their offline business, no matter what, and they still need to build an opt-in newsletter.
Basically, your personal opt-in newsletter (or opt-in list) normally comprises of the names and e-mail addresses of those people who are the most likely to purchase the service or product that you are selling. Other than that, you are required to ask permission of your visitors to agree to receive e-mails from you, so that you won’t be accused of sending SPAM. One thing for sure, the opt-in list is also a list of the people who are the ones most likely to want to buy what you are selling. That’s why you need to build a list.
Let me ask you a simple question. Which scenario of the following is the better one? Getting a completely new visitor to purchase your new service or product or getting those people (customers in your list) who have ever bought one of your products to purchase another product. You already know the answer.
Okay, you may ask, Why can building an opt-in list will grow your business?
Those who subscribe to your opt-in list are already showing an interest in your product or service, in other words, it’s a much better conversion rate. You already have their permission to “sell” to them unless they choose to opt-out, so you are not called spammer.
Your opt-in list offers you with additional opportunities to sell to those who didn’t bring in a sale on their first visit to your website. Even better, with an effective opt-in list you’ll be better capable of attracting more joint venture partners. Other than that, Opt-in can be used to build a reputation and credibility as well, since it’s a vital part of Internet marketing so that you have the chance to demonstrate a solid reputation and your credibility to your own opt-in subscribers.
So, the answer to the “To build or not to build a list” question is clear enough. I’ll let you answer to this question yourself.
